Seema Patade resided on the 11th floor of Krishna Classic society with her husband, Jaiprakash, and daughter, Mansi.
Mansi had returned from college around 5pm and found her mother dead on Friday. Seema had been smothered with a pillow and an injury was found on the back of her head. Jayprakash was in Konkan for Ganeshotsav at that time.
Robbery seemed to be the motive, but the police now believe it could be a personal dispute. "We have picked up six people from among friends and relatives of the family for questioning. We are checking if any had a grouse with Seema," said an official. Social media accounts of those close to the family are being looked into.
"We have scanned CCTV footage of the building. Inquiries are being made with the society guard and a maid working for the Patades," said another official. The crime branch is conducting a parallel probe.
