It’s not an engagement ring, but a promise ring: Kishwar Merchantt

These days, with wedding and engagement rings, a 'promise ring' signifies a commitment. TV actress Kishwar Merchantt last seen in Parvarrish, tells us that she will wed long-time boyfriend, actor Suyyash Rai next year and that he gave her a 'promise ring' recently.

She says, "I have been dating Suyyash for the last three years and he surprised me with a 'promise ring' that came to me gift-wrapped along with some love notes. Technically, it's not an engagement ring because it was not given to me in front of my parents but he has promised to be with me forever and we plan to get married next year."

Kishwar met Suyyash on the set of Pyaar Ki Yeh Ek Kahaani and she feels it was a case of opposites attracting each other. She was earlier in a relationship with actor Hiten Paintal and it took her three-and-a-half years to find love again.

Was it compatibility issues with Hiten that led to her breakup? She says, "If there was no compatibility you would not have been in love in the first place. Hiten and I were not meant to be with each other. Our fights never stopped and it was better to mutually part ways."
