Oracle Academy, IEG renew MoU in Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD: The Institute of Electronic Governance ( IEG) said it has renewed its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oracle India to implement Oracle Academy's computer science curriculum in 400 educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh.

As part of the MoU, around 50,000 students and 1,000 faculty members will be taught computer science of which, 150 faculty members will get to participate in the "Train the Trainer" course, enabling them to use Oracle Academy infrastructure to train other teachers as well.


"With changes in the global marketplace and increasing competition, it has become more important for us to deliver advanced technology training to students to help them become successful in a complex, interconnected world," state minister for Information technology, electronics and communications (ITE&C) Ponnala Lakshmaiah said.


Commenting on the development, Andhra Pradesh government ITE&C department secretary Sanjay Jaju said, "We are glad to renew our MoU with Oracle in our effort to bring industry relevant technical education to our students in Andhra Pradesh. Our partnership with Oracle is a strategic initiative that will help supplement our efforts in building a skilled and competitive workforce in the state and in India."


According to Oracle Academy, the introduction to computer science curricula will include database design and programming with SQL, database programming with PL/SQL, Java fundamentals and Java programming.


Oracle Academy pointed out that over the last five years, around 6.8 lakh students from 31,000 educational institutions have benefited from its program in the country.
