Two hurt in cross-border firing near Jammu

JAMMU: Two civilians were wounded as Pakistan Rangers fired on forward Indian positions at Arnia along the international border near Jammu on Saturday.

"The unprovoked firing in Arnia sector from across the border continued intermittently. It attracted equal retaliation from the Indian side. The exchange of fire continued till Saturday morning," a BSF source said. He identified the civilians as Dewan Chand and Ghar Chand.

The fresh ceasefire violation is ninth in four days. A sixteen-year-old girl was killed while five others were wounded after Pakistani troops fired on forward Indian posts along the Line of Control in Poonch district on Friday.

Later, Pakistani Rangers targeted Pittal and Tent Guard border posts at Arnia along the international border in Jammu.

Cross-border firing restarted this week after a month-long lull.
