Srinagar passport office shifted to Jammu

SRINAGAR: The regional passport office here has been temporarily shifted to Jammu in view of the recent floods in Kashmir that inundated several key offices.

Regional passport officer Firdous Iqbal said their office located on the banks the Dal Lake was submerged making their functioning difficult.

"The step is being taken so that pending applications could be processed. It is being done so that in case of any emergency, if a passport is needed, a person can apply online,'' said Iqbal.

He said the office shall resume functioning in Srinagar in a few months.
