Snags in trains disrupt services on CR

MUMBAI: Central Railway services were disrupted on the Main and Harbour lines due to mechanical faults in rakes on Friday.

Ten suburban services on each route were cancelled. On the Main line, there was a snag in a rake near Currey Road. "The incident happened in a Kalyan-bound slow train around 3.50pm," said CR chief public relations officer Narendra Patil.

A locomotive was dispatched to tow away the train. "It reached Dadar station by 4.50pm. During this period, all Thane-bound slow services were diverted on the fast track between Byculla and Matunga," Patil added. The slow services did not halt at Currey Road and Chinchpokli stations. "Trains were running late by 15-20 minutes because of bunching of services," said a CR official.
