He also referred to the attack on Subramanian Swamy's Chennai residence. "They attacked his residence as he is the complainant in this case," Karunanidhi said. They were attacking the innocent public and destroying public properties with an intention of instilling fear and panic in the minds of people. The media covering the various violent incidents in the state was not spared too, he said.

Karunanidhi demanded that action be taken against 'erring police officials' who were hand-in-glove with AIADMK cadres in perpetuating violence, aiding, abetting and failing to check violators.
Karunanidhi alleged that the police were 'silent spectators' to the lawless acts of the AIADMK partymen. "The police in the state are not in a position to handle the situation and the people of Tamil Nadu were living in fear.
There is complete break-down of constitutional machinery in Tamil Nadu" he said.
The DMK leader said unless stringent measures were taken immediately by the police and military administration, the safety of the people of Tamil Nadu was in jeopardy. "If the present situation is allowed to continue, the state may witness worsening of law and order situation which will be a grave threat to the citizen's life and property", he said. "Under these circumstances, I request you to intervene and take appropriate measures forthwith to restore law and order."
