I would any day prefer direction: Rajat

Rajat, who has directed critically acclaimed films like AnkhonDekhi and plays like Nothing Like Lear, was in Vadodara recently. He shares, "I have enjoyed acting in the films that I have done. However, I enjoy direction more because as a director, I feel I can express myself completely. Besides, whether it is for my films or plays, I have been lucky to have had the privilege of working with some fantastic actors. For instance, it has been a real delight to work with VinayPathak, who is a very dear friend too. For the future, I have done a film called X as an actor, which has several filmmakers collaborating for the project. As a director, I have three scripts ready and will start working on my next film around January." Asked about his fascination for clowns in his plays, Rajat says, "I think a clown is a very pure being, who comes across as someone without any social baggage and it is easier to convey powerful emotions through them. Even my next play as a director will be with clowns."
