Andhra CM orders immediate transfer of land to Iskcon

GUNTUR: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the district collector Kanthilal Dande to immediately transfer the land to Iskcon for the construction of temple and heritage township at Kondaveedu. He asked the district collector to resolve the issues in transfer of land to the Iskcon as it had been in pending for years.

A delegation of Iskcon met the chief minister Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad on Wednesday and sought his intervention in getting the land. The Iskcon has proposed to construct a massive Venna Mudda Krishna temple at the bottom of the historical Kondaveedu fort with a cost of nearly Rs.150 crore. Although, the government promised to grant about 150 acres of land to Iskcon, the delay in land acquisition delayed the transfer of land. Iskcon delegation headed by AP chief Satya Gopinath Murari Das had also held discussion with the chief minister on management of prestigious 'Anna Canteen' programme.

CM had already decided to hand over the canteen management to Iskcon. CM suggested the Iskcon delegates to stay put in Hyderabad and finalise the other issues relating to the management of Anna Canteens with the cabinet sub-committee comprising Prattipati Pullarao, Paritala Suneetha and K Narayana.

The meeting on anna canteen would be held on Thursday in Hyderabad, Murari Das told 'TOI.' He said that CM had opted Iskcon to handle the canteen programme as it was an organization selflessly serving the poor across the globe. Murari Das said that iskcon team had already studied the functioning of Amma canteens in Tamilnadu and implement the programme in AP with improvement.
