Cop caught taking money to go slow on case

MUMBAI: A constable of the Mira Road police station has been arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB),Thane for allegedly taking Rs 2,000 bribe from a man against whom a Non-Cognisable (NC) offence was registered.

Kiran Bhoite had allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 from the complainant for not taking action in an NC filed by his son and wife.


According to the complainant, he had filed an NC after which his wife and son filed a counter complaint. The constable allegedly threatened the complainant to convert the NC into an FIR if the money was not paid.


Bhoite allegedly settled for Rs 2,000 and the complainant approached the ACB who laid a trap and arrested the constable from the Naya Nagar police chowky at Mira Road on Friday.


He will be produced in court today.
