HYDERABAD: A former call centre employee was caught for snatching chains along with his fiance and five other associates, including two engineering students at Bowenpally.
Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma said that Mohammed Shoaib, Sana Khan, Mufadal, VK Raghav and JS Bhargav were indulging in snatching chains, while Naresh and Ashwad were the receivers of gold valuables.
The police recovered 70 tolas of gold, a car, two 2-wheelers, a home theatre, a refrigerator and 1,500 grams of contraband from the group. Police nabbed Shoaib and Sana, call centre employees at Bowenpally on Thursday. The duo revealed they were snatchers and police recovered three gold chains and half kilo grams of ganja. "The duo who were in a car suddenly stopped and tried to escape from the car after seeing a police party, conducting vehicle checking. They were chased and nabbed,'' Sharma said. Based on their confession, Mufadal and the two engineering students, Naresh and Ashwad were nabbed.
The accused were wanted in 20 snatching cases in Hyderabad and three in Cyberabad. The couple and the engineering students used to snatch chains while travelling on bikes in various localities in Secunderabad. Sana and Shoaib got engaged recently.
