Life convict traced after 25 years

GUNTUR: Police on Friday arrested a life convict, who jumped parole about 25 years ago.

He was arrested at Pittalavanipalem village of Bapatla mandal in Guntur district. The life convict, Gokaraju Narasaraju (60) of Gokarajupalem, a hamlet of Pittalavanipalem village, was arrested for murder of his friend, Ramachandra Raju, in 1980. A year later, he was convicted for life and lodged in Rajahmundry jail.


He was shifted to Cherlapally open air jail in 1987 due to his good conduct and was granted parole in 1989. He jumped parole and went missing for 25 years.


He successfully eluded the police net by living in Maharashtra and Karnataka. He reportedly visited the village about five years ago when his mother died, but he fled before the police reached there.During a recent crime meeting, Guntur district police superintendent J Satyanarayana found pending warrant against Narasaraju. He directed that the local police trace the offender.
