Mohd. Shami double strike rattles SA

NEW DELHI: Mohammed Shami dismissed centurion Hashim Amla and David Miller in one over to reduce South Africa to 234/4 in the second one-day international at Kingsmead in Durban on Sunday.

Scorecard

Shami was lucky to get Miller dismissed leg before wicket as there was a clear inside edge onto the batsman's pads.

Shami had centurion Hashim Amla caught behind by captain MS Dhoni as South Africa lost their third wicket.

Amla tried to pull a short delivery from the outside of off-stump but the ball edged the toe end of the bat as Dhoni took a simple catch.

Amla 12th ODI century came off 116 balls and this was his third century against India.

When he reached 59 in his 100-run knock, Amla became the fastest batsman to complete 4000 ODI runs.

Amla took 81 innings to get to the milestone beating Sir Vivian Richards who got to the landmark in 88 innings.

R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers respectively.

De Kock smashed a 118-ball 106 before Ashwin had him caught by Rohit Sharma at square leg and in the next over Jadeja had De Villiers stumped by MS Dhoni.

De Kock hit his second successive century off 112 balls and added 194 runs with Hashim Amla for the first wicket.

De Kock and Amla once again laid a solid platform for their team that is already 1-0 up in this three-match series.

Both De Kock and Amla slammed their fifties off 57 balls bringing up South Africa's 50 in the tenth over, 100 in the 19th over and 150 in the 27th over.

The solid start came after Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to field first.

A wet outfield delayed the toss for the second one-dayer and it will be a 49 overs-a-side game.

"Yuvraj Singh is not fit as Ajinkya Rahane comes in place of the southpaw," Dhoni said after winning at the toss.

The Indian team has made three changes to the squad with an unfit Yuvraj Singh making way for Ajinkya Rahane in the batting department.

In the bowling changes, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohit Sharma have been replaced by Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav.

South Africa have brought in Vernon Philander in place of Wayne Parnell.

Teams:

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Capt.), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav.

South Africa: AB de Villiers (Capt.), Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, Jacques Kallis, JP Duminy, David Miller, Ryan McLaren, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Lonwabe Tsotsobe.
