MUMBAI: Four men have been arrested for allegedly robbing bundles of stainless steel from a godown in Vasai last month. On November 30, theft of stainless steel was reported from Neel Shah company at Gavraipada,Vasai (E).
Around 57 bundles of stainless steel weighing over 19 tonnes and valued at Rs 21 lakhs was robbed by the gang using forklifts to unload the goods. They hired a truck to transport the stolen materials. The Waliv police got a tip-off that the steel was sold off in Rajkot, Gujarat.
Police investigated and arrested Deepak Kardani (40), Bharat Dangaria (37), Dalpesh Bhandari (27) and Govind Gajera (25).
The main accused Nilesh Mansar is absconding. The police have recovered goods worth Rs 15 lakhs. The four have been arrested under sections 380 (theft) and 459 (house breaking) of the IPC. They have been remanded to police custody till December 6 by the Vasai sessions court.
