Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat Wednesday, Parrikar said that the investigating team of the crime branch, will decide on filing the chargesheet based on the evidence it has collected in the case.
He said it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that the girl gets justice. "The girl has shown courage to come out boldly against a big personality", he said. Parrikar also said that the government will see that Tejpal will also get justice.
To a question of alleged interference by him as the home minister in the case, Parrikar reiterated that the law has taken its own course and denied that he has ever influenced the police in the case. He also said that there is no pressure on him and "neither will I succumb to (pressure) if any".
The crime branch, he said, has been given full freedom to investigate the case.
Tejpal was arrested on November 30 night after the sessions court rejected his anticipatory bail application for the sexual assault case which occurred during Thinkfest at Bambolim last month. A suo moto FIR under section 354, 376 and 376 (2) (k) is registered by the state against Tejpal based on the media reports and the girl's first email the newsmagazine's managing editor.
