Guard tries to molest schoolboy in Nainital

HALDWANI: In a shocking incident, there was an attempt to sexually assault an eight-year-old boy studying at a reputed school in Nainital. The security guard who tried to molest the boy in the school's dormitory twice has not been identified yet and no arrests have been made.

As the school management informed the boy's Delhi-based parents about the incident which took place on October 6, they rushed to Nainital. An FIR here under the sections of POCSO Act 2012 was lodged here on October 9.

Confirming the incident, deputy inspector general, Kumaon Range, G S Martoila told TOI: "A team has been given the task of probing the allegations of the victim and his parents.

" According to the FIR, the boy was sleeping in the school's dormitory when a security guard tried to touch him inappropriately on Monday night. The guard allegedly tried to force himself on the victim again on Tuesday morning. When the victim raised an alarm, the accused fled the spot. The school principal told TOI: "As soon as I came to know about the incident, I informed the boy's parents and the police. They are investigating the case. We vehemently condemn any such behaviour by anyone in the society."

A preliminary probe has revealed that no guard resembling the description provided by the boy works with the school.

According to the school authorities, the guards are not supposed to enter the dormitory during late hours. On each side of the dormitory, there are residences of the two wardens, who were both present on the premises on the night of the incident. boy molested,POCSO Act 2012,molestation attempt
