"Kashmir is the favourite destination for the tourists from the diamond city during the Diwali vacation. The tourists book their holidays in advance. But in the last few days, we have been getting frantic calls from those who have booked their holidays in Kashmir regarding the situation. I have received around 10 cancellations out of the total 100 bookings in the last two days"said Pradip Pandya, director, Pandya tours.
Tour operators say that the most popular destinations for the Surtis Rajasthan, Kashmir, Shimla, Goa and Kerala.
"Tourists here are really worried about the situation prevailing in Kashmir. Many have approached us to provide them with better options, if they have to cancel the tour. We are also in touch with the airlines that they give the full refund in case of cancellation, which is due to the natural disaster in Kashmir," said Mahesh Kahar, team expert tours and travels.
"We had planned a family trip to Kashmir in the mid of October and had done the bookings much in advance.But after calamity hit Kashmir, we cancelled our bookings. Life is more precious and valuable than money ," said Paresh Vaniawala, a private banker.
Sandip Patel, a textile trader said, "For long, my friend and I had planned to go with our family to Kashmir on a holiday. Our plans had flopped thrice. This time, we had done all the bookings and were really waiting for the journey on October 20, but nature played havoc. Kashmir will take at least three to four months time to get back to normal after the natural disaster."
