Senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai manhandled outside Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK: TV Today consulting editor RajdeepSardesai was on Sunday manhandled by a group of pro-Modi supporters outside Madison Square Garden in New York. The incident took place shortly before Prime Minister NarendraModi was to address the Indian-American community.

Immediately after the incident Sardesai tweeted: "Great crowd at Modison square garden! except a few idiots who still believe abuse is a way of proving their machismo! #ModiAtMadison"

He further added, "Glad we caught the idiots on cam. Only way to shame the mob is to show them. #ModiAtMadison."

It is unclear with regard to who started it, but Sardesai off late has not been as "pro-modi" as rest of media. However, according to reports, there were some who claimed that he was saying things that were anti-modi, amidst a very pro-modi crowd, which resulted into a scuffle.

In July, Sardesai had quit as the editor-in-chief of IBN 18 Network to later join the TV Today Group as its consulting editor.
