Nominations filed for the post of mayor in Maharashtra's Ulhasnagar

ULHASNAGAR: After the Shiv Sena and BJP alliance broke in the state, in Ulhasnagar city too they have decided to break their alliance and are going to fight the Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections separately, which is to be held on October 4.

In Ulhasnagar, BJP and Shiv Sena with the help of SAI (Secular Alliance of India) party is in the majority in Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation. More surprisingly SAI party which has kept the mayor post since the last two-and-a-half years, this time again has fielded its candidate for the mayor post taking advantage of both Sena and BJP's separation.

If political observers to be believed then with all parties fighting separately and accusing each other in their rallies, it will be surprising to see who will come together to elect the city's next mayor and deputy mayor.

However, if political sources are to be believed then this time NCP, which is the single largest party in Ulhasnagar with 21 seats, may go with SAI party.

On Monday during nomination filing, from Shiv Sena, Sameedha Kordhe — for the position of mayor — while Subhash Mansulkar — for the position of deputy mayor — filed their nomination while from BJP Neena Nathani — for the position of mayor — and Panchsila Pawar — for the position of deputy mayor — filed their nominations. Moreover, Meena Dasani from NCP filed nomination for the mayor's post while Raju Jagiasi filed papers for deputy mayor's post. Congress, which is smallest party in Ulhasnagar is making Jaya Sadhwani contest election for mayor while SAI party has given ticket to Indira Udasi for mayor.
