Married woman from Delhi raped in Himachal Pradesh

FARIDABAD: A married woman from Delhi, residing in the district was allegedly raped by a man in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.

The victim, had a quarrel with her husband on August 30, following which she left her house in Faridabad and was on her way to her parent's home in Delhi, when she was approached by the man, who was "known to her", near Nain Chowk, they said.

Despite the woman's refusal, the accused, identified as one Vivek, tricked her into coming with him and instead of Delhi, took her to Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. He later booked a hotel and raped her there, police said.

The woman later escaped from there and went to her family and narrated the entire incident to them, they said, adding, an FIR has been lodged against Vivek under section IPC 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) and IPC section 376 (punishment for rape).
