Dutch national arrested on rape charges in Bangalore


BANGALORE: The Bangalore Airport police on Wednesday arrested a Dutch national Peter Bruianj, a resident of Sadarahalli near Yelahanka, after a 30-year-old woman from Haryana filed a cheating and rape case against him. In her statement, the victim, who is five-month pregnant, told the police that Peter approached her through Facebook during 2011 end, gradually both became good friends and he cheated her on the pretext of marrying him.


The accused works with a Dutch-based education institution Nuffic-Nesco having its office in Kasthurinagar, Benniganahalli. "He told me that he is a divorcee and is looking for an Indian woman to marry. After some time, he sent me a marriage proposal and I accepted it," victim said.


According to the victim, she visited him many times at his Sadarahalli residence between 2012 and 2014. "Promising to marry me, he developed physical relationship many times and I conceived. When I told him about the news, he forced me to abort and gradually started avoiding me," she said.
