At 10.30 pm on Saturday, robbers attacked businessman Sanjay Kumar Agarwal with a blunt object on the head at Gowliguda while he was travelling on a bike and snatched away his cash bag containing Rs four lakh, Afzalgunj inspector C Anjaiah said.
Based on the complaint lodged by Agarwal, police registered a under section 392 (robbery case) of the IPC and launched a manhunt to nab the offenders.
In another case, a thief stole Rs 1.45 lakh cash from 60-year-old retired postal employee Madhav Reddy of Sitaphalmandi. The incident happened at parking lot of Seven Hills apartment at Sitaphalmandi on Saturday afternoon.
Reddy withdrew Rs 1.45 lakh cash from Andhra Bank's Sitaphalmandi branch and returned to his apartment complex on the bike. As Reddy was parking the bike inside the complex, the offender came there on a black bike wearing helmet.
"The offender approached Reddy asking for directions to go to the Secunderabad railway station. While Reddy was busy giving him directions, the offender diverted his attention and stole the cash bag from the bike's tank pouch. Reddy only realised about the missing cash bag after the offender left the apartment," Chilakalguda SI G Balakrishna said.
Based on a complaint lodged by Reddy, a theft case was registered under section 380 of the IPC.
