Best of beer and cheer at The Pint Room!

Diverging from the quintessential concept of dimly-lit watering holes, where enjoying a drink or two meant gulping down the regular varieties of beers, rums and vodkas, The Pint Room goes out of its way to do something different. And so, it introduces you to a concept that goes beyond simply drinking beer.

"It's not a bar, it's a beer cafe!" says Pradeep Gidwani, the man who introduced three most successful beers to India - Tuborg, Carlsberg and Foster's, is now endeavouring to create a beer culture in the country. The idea was to do away with the concept of a typical bar, and hence, as a replacement for uncomfortable bar stools, there are comfortable sofas for you to sink into. The well-lit vibrant shades of yellow, beige and red interior decor exude a casual and friendly ambience that is ideal for either hanging out with friends, colleagues or even alone.

A beer cafe!

The Pint Room is essentially a beer drinking joint designed in a way to look like a cafe. "We want to make beer as accessible and casual as drinking coffee, hence the cafe-like cheery ambience and decor. Also, no other bar or hotel in the city serves these many number of beers under one roof; we're the first in this business," challenges Pradeep.

With over 40 varieties of beer on offer, food naturally takes a backseat. Yet, there are several options to take your pick from - vegetarian and non-vegetarian kebab platters, nachos, and baked potato wedges served with a mayo dip. Of course, if you're in the mood to tuck into a little more food, the staff would be more than happy to bring you a bucket of fried chicken from KFC from the food court upstairs, if you please.

Drink beer, tour the world!

Most people who go out drinking are contented as long as they're served a drink of their choice. It's not surprising that they care less about the drink's country or state of origin, the nuances of its flavour, the culture associated with it, or perhaps how exactly it is pronounced. The Pint Room, however, does not let you simply gulp down your beer without knowing anything about it. In fact, there is a whole process of choosing and learning about the pint of beer you're going to drink known as the Beer Discovery Tour. Each tour combines three different beers of one or more countries that complement each other in taste. Handpicked and customised by Pradeep, each beer discovery tour is unique in itself. Request the staff for the Beer Drinker's Guides that have little nuggets about them, the way they are pronounced, their colour, tasting notes and brief history about their region of origin. Currently, The Pint Room has three exclusive tours on offer:

1. The German Style Hopper Tour that combines three classic styles in the German brewing tradition: The fruity and bitter flavour of Fruh, the caramel and roasted malt with blackcurrant and apple flavoured Weihenstephaner Tradition, and the fruit infused with spices Erdinger Weisse.

2. The European Lager Tour that travels three nations and explores three different ways of brewing a traditional lager: Italy's Birra Moretti, intense with aroma of roasted malt, Austria's Ottakringer, a biscuit flavoured malt with bittersweet finish, and Portugal's Super Bock, a grainy brew with hints of grass and corn.

3. The great beers of Belgium Tour that bring together three beautiful brews from Belgium: the sweet grapey Chimay Triple, Hoegaarden that has a spicy perfume aroma and fruity palate, and Stella Artois which exudes the aroma of a light malt and lemon zest.

The highpoint of The Pint Room is its venue. Perched comfortably on the second floor of Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, the beer cafe attracts most of its audience to a 'pre-dinner hangout over beer' space. The music is a mellow mix of blues that does not interfere with chatty conversations. The beer is served through frozen beer taps, which ensures the drink is nice and chilled. It is a paradise for beer aficionados with the widest choices of beer from all across the globe. And for those who're just starting out, it's a great place to begin the journey of tasting and familiarising yourself with some of world's finest beers.
