Uttarakhand youth found dead

NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old student from Uttarakhand has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at a hotel in Nabi Karim area of central Delhi on Saturday afternoon. Police have not found a suicide note.

The youth, Aniruddh, had come to the city on Friday morning and checked into the Step Inn hotel in Nabi Karim. Police said that he was supposed to check out on Saturday afternoon but was not seen since morning. The waiters had tried to knock on his door with no response. At around 2.30pm the hotel manager tried calling Aniruddh on his mobile and even tried to check his room but found the curtains drawn. He then informed the police who reached the hotel and broke open the door.

Aniruddh was found hanging from the ceiling fan by a piece of cloth. Police said that he appeared to have committed suicide in the morning. The body was brought down and sent for a post mortem at the LNJP hospital.

On Friday night, he had ordered dinner to his room after which he was not seen by hotel authorities.

The police have contacted the Aniruddh's family to identify the body. Family members are being questioned to find out why he had come to the city or whether he was depressed.
