Magnitude 6.3 earthquake hits China's Guizhou province

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck the Chinese province of Guizhou on Sunday, according to the US Geological Survey. The quake registered at a shallow depth of less than 1 mile.

Guizhou is located in the southwestern part of the country and borders the provinces of Sichuan, Hunan and Yunnan. The quake struck near the city of Liupanshui, which has a population of nearly 3 million.
