The water utility has reduced its losses during production from 8% to 2%, automated some treatment plants and also implemented several reforms.
"Since May 2014, DJB managed to exceed its normal production level of 835MGD and continued to increase production throughout the month. In July, we further raised production capacity to 840MGD and recorded a peak production of 842.9MGD," a DJB spokesperson said.
According to DJB, this was made possible by ensuring optimum utilization of existing water resources, timely completion of preventive maintenance works and automation of some waste treatment plants. Recently, DJB has also taken many reform measures to ensure better management and optimum working of its plants.
The water utility has augmented its supply by recycling waste water that is produced during the raw water treatment process. Through this, an additional 45 MGD has been available through the summer months. The peak water production is being monitored through flow-meters installed at all seven treatment plants.
