KOLKATA: Bengal governor Keshari Nath Tripathi has been honoured by the Multilingual Literary Circle, Birmingham, Sant Nirankari Mandal, UK and the Sandwell Confederation of Indians for his contributions as a poet and his achievements as a politician.
The governor received the awards on Saturday at a programme at Sant Nirankari Bhavan, West Midlands, organised by Krishna Kumar of Gitanjali and Harmohinder Singh Bhatia. Among those who felicitated Tripathi were the Mayor of Sandwell, Nina Gill, MP, Sheriff of West Midlands Resham Singh Sandhu acting consul-general of Birmingham B C Pradhan.
The Queen's representative in the Midlands, Satinder Taunque also attended. The governor spoke in Hindi and English. He also talked about strengthening ties between the centre and Bengal.
