Besides Rane, all defeated and victorious Congress Lok Sabha election candidates, senior party politicians, Chavan and Thakre made submissions before a high-level review committee headed by former defence minister A K Antony.
If a defeated Congress candidate is to be believed, then most of the defeated candidates and cabinet members endorsed the views expressed by Rane, who has launched a campaign against Chavan ever since the results of the Lok Sabha polls were declared.
About a month ago, Rane wrote a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi saying it would not be possible for the party to retain power in the state under the leadership of Chavan.
On the demand for a change in leadership, the former Congress MP said a decision on the issue would be taken after the Antony committee submitted its report to the Congress president within a week.
The former MP said the nominees complained about a lack of killer instinct.
The politician said the Antony committee was told that Chavan and Thakre failed to enthuse the Congress. "Chavan and Thakre never drafted a comprehensive plan to take on the Modi-led BJP and there was a lack of coordination at all levels," the politician said.
Another defeated MP said Chavan and Thakre left party nominees to their fate. "At the organizational level, too, there was absolutely no coordination as Chavan and Thakre were working in opposite directions," he said.
A senior Congress minister said Chavan refuted the allegations, saying all possible efforts were made but the Narendra Modi wave defeated the Congress nominees.
Thakre said there was an action plan for assembly polls and would hold regionwise meets from Thursday.
