Rajnath didn't apologize to Muslims: Shahnawaz Hussain

NAGPUR: BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Sunday trashed media reports that BJP national president Rajnath Singh had apologized to Muslims.

"I was present at the event Rajnath is supposed to have uttered these remarks. They have been totally twisted out of context by the media. Rajnath told Muslims that unlike the Congress, BJP was ready to admit its mistakes. He had said that if BJP did a wrong thing then it would seek forgiveness with folded hands," Hussain said. "When we haven't anything wrong to Muslims, why should we apologize to them," he added.

Apparently rattled by repeated attacks by AAP on Narendra Modi, BJP is no longer taking it lightly. Addressing a press conference here, BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain alleged that AAP had been floated by the Congress to make a dent in BJP votes.

"The Congress knows that it can't win against BJP and has therefore floated AAP to make a dent in our votes. AAP is a party of people without principles. They got votes of Delhi people by criticizing Congress and then after elections joined hands with the party. Then, instead of governing Delhi, they pulled down the government on a flimsy pretext and are now trying their luck in the Lok Sabha elections," Hussain said.

The BJP leader claimed that AAP would flop badly in the elections as the people of India had decided to elect Narendra Modi as prime minister of India. "We are confident that BJP on its own will win 272 plus seats, while its allies will win another 50," he said.

Hussain claimed that a large number of Muslims and Dalits would vote for BJP this time. "The Congress is scared and wants to keep Muslims scared of BJP, so that they vote for it. A coward can never help you. Muslims have realized this and they will vote for BJP this time," he said.

The BJP leader, however, had a difficult time explaining the Muslim-RSS relationship. On whether RSS should open its door for Muslims, he said that the RSS had worked for the welfare of Muslims. "Many Muslims are associated with RSS," he said, without elaborating.
