BANGALORE: A day after his name figured in the first list of Congress candidates contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Nandan Nilekani, the co-founder of Infosys and chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) officially joined the party on Sunday.
Nilekani joined Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee in the presnce of party president G Parameshwara and union minister Rahman Khan.
He has already launched an aggressive campaign in the Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency to take on five time BJP MP Ananth Kumar.
After joining the party, Nilekani said he wants to be the champion of Bangalore in New Delhi to ensure the city gets better deal in transport, education and water supply.
Nilekani also announced that he will soon resign from his post as UIDAI chairman.
