Murdered techie's father disputes Mumbai police claim

VIJAYAWADA: Raising serious doubts over Mumbai police investigation, murdered techie Esther Anuhya's father S Jonathan Prasad has said that he was no convinced with way the mystery was cracked. He said that arrest of a habitual offender in connection with Esther's murder was looked a cocked up story.

Reacting hours after Mumbai police producing the lone accused in the Esther murder case Chandrabhan, Prasad said that Mumbai police were yet to show them proof about the involvement of the arrested culprit. "I really do not know whether the arrested person was the actual culprit. But, I have serious doubts about the police statement as Esther going with her heavy luggage on a motor bike that too with a stranger is completely unconvincing. I am disappointed as police looked only to wind up the case," he said. Police after going through the CCTV visuals said that the person walking along with Esther in Mumbai station could be around 40-year-old and the arrested accused was said to be only 28-year-old, pointed Prasad. In addition, the police argument that accused trapped the girl with a sole aim to rob her of despite the fact Esther was not wearing any jewellery was also defied logic, he observed.

Esther's dad demanded the police for an explanation as to why they failed to crack the mystery behind the phone calls made by his daughter. 23-year-old software engineer Esther Anuhya had left to Mumbai from Machilipatnam on January 4 and reached Mumbai in LTT express on January 5. The decomposed body of the girl was found almost after 11 days after she went missing from railway station on January 16.

Mumbai Police arrested habitual criminal Chandrabhan on Monday in connection with Esther's murder.
