A team of Cyberabad police is leaving for Salt Lake on Saturday morning to bring the alleged hacker to city for interrogation.
According to sources, Laxman who is mentor of IPL franchisee Sunrisers called up Cyberabad police five days ago and informed them about an SMS alert he received about withdrawal of Rs 10 lakh from his bank account without his knowledge.
He realized somebody hacked his email ID and executed the transaction. The hacker reportedly sent a message through the cricketer's email ID directing his bank in the city to transfer Rs 10 lakh from his account to a bank in Salt Lake. The police immediately launched an investigation and found that the money was transferred to an account with a private bank in Salt Lake, Kolkata. They sent a fax to the Salt Lake police chief and the bank officials to freeze the account.
Fortunately for Laxman, the amount was not withdrawn by the hacker, a highly-placed source told TOI.
The alleged hacker, Izathul Sheik, walked into a trap laid by the bank officials there. When the bank officials called him to sort out certain things concerning his account, he came and was promptly arrested by the waiting police.
