Sandeep Singh Bundral (22) and his aides—brothers Rahul (26) and Siddharth (28)—were rounded up by the Delhi Police's crime branch based on the complaint by businessman Ranjeet Verma. Verma said he was contacted by Rahul who said he was looking for rented accommodation in Masjid Moth. He fixed an appointment with him at his SouthEx flat on January 28.
On that day, Rahul and Siddharth forcibly entered the house. They were soon joined by Sandeep. Together, they forced him to pose objectionably and shot a pornographic video. The men threatened to use the video to blackmail their victim.
The trio then took his credit card and withdrew Rs 16,000. They left with the cash, his laptop and two mobile phones. When they were gone, Verma registered a complaint with Hauz Khas police.
"On Friday, the gang was arrested near Kohat Enclave Metro station where they had gathered for their escape from Delhi," said DCP Crime (North), Kumar Gyanesh. Police said Verma's phones and laptop were recovered from them and that they have confessed.
Siddharth, who was earlier a TSR driver, is wanted in a case of immoral trafficking in which he had sold a minor to a man in Haryana after being in a live-in relationship with her.
Sandeep had befriended Rahul when he met him earlier in Green Park. This time he had come to Delhi on medical leave from his company in Ahmedabad and had been staying with him. He had resigned from his service with J&K police last year.
"Sandeep claimed he has been among the top rifle shooters in the country in the 10m and 25m ranges and had also represented India in Singapore at an international event," additional commissioner of police (crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
