CCTV footage shows killed techie entered station waiting room

MUMBAI: The crime branch, probing the murder of software engineer Esther Anuhya (23), have found her images in the CCTV footage of the Lokhmanya Tilak Terminus at Kurla. Anuhya is seen entering the waiting room.

Anhuya went missing on reaching LTT on January 5, a day after she left from her hometown of Machilipatnam. Esther, had boarded the train for Mumbai at Vishakhapatnam on January 4 and landed at LTT at 5.30am.


Her body was found 10 days later.


The police suspect somebody in the waiting room may have approached Anuhya and offered her a lift. "We have just got the cctv footage, we are scanning to identify other persons in the waiting room," said an officer.


Police also suspect she was kidnapped and taken in a taxi. At least two hefty persons may be involved in the crime.


Police have requested the FSL to speedily send the findings as it is hampering their investigations. FSL sources said that they have twice carried test on the charred body but they havenot been able to come to conclusion whether she was sexually assaulted. Once this picture is clear our line of investigations will progress. If she is not sexually assaulted than it is definitely involvement of a habitual of robber gang.''added a senior officer from eastern suburbs.


The police have requested the forensic science laboratory to expedite testing all samples in the case. "Once this picture is clear, our line of probe will progress. If she was not sexually assaulted, a gang of robbers may have been involved," added a senior officer from the eastern suburbs.


Meanwhile the police have sounded a alert all over India through the police control room to electronic dealers that if somebody comes to sell a second hand Mac laptop, he should immediately inform the police. Anhuya's laptop and her old mobile phone has been missing from former parliamentarian Nivedita Mane and many senior officers in police department and Mantralaya attended the meeting. Patil also told cops to increase patrolling during late night train arrivals. "Ensure vehicle numbers are displayed inside cabs and autos."
