Man arrested for sexually abusing minors

NEW DELHI: A few months ago, children in the age group of 8 to 10 had gone missing in mysterious circumstances from Govindpuri area, southeast Delhi. They were later found in different places. They had been abducted by a man, sexually abused and later dumped at different places, the children told their parents.

On Thursday, when another 9-year-old girl went missing, police laid traps at various places including four railway stations suspecting the involvement of the same man. The man, Mohammed Shamshad, was nabbed. He disclosed to have sexually victimized many girls from the area and raped a 12-year-old girl in March. Many cases have been registered against him. "We have arrested Mohammed Shamshad, a resident of Jharia in Bihar, for his role in abduction of a minor girl. He has been found involved in many cases," said P Karunakaran, DCP southeast. The accused said he was obsessed with abusing children, a source said.
