Dulal Bhuiyan is a former land revenue minister and member of the Madhu Koda government. He claimed that Maoists entered his house in Jamshedpur at 2.30am and abducted his private guard Bijen Paswan who was on duty before taking him to the Dalma hills for questioning.
Refuting the allegations, senior superintendent of police Richard Lakra said there's no evidence of Maoists entering into the city.
"The guard had left the place due to a family emergency and later planted a false abduction story to save his skin. There's no evidence of the Maoists entering the city," Lakra said at a press conference.
Paswan had alleged that the Maoists had questioned him about the minister's daily routine and later set him free. The minister and two of his security men provided by the government were sleeping at home at the time.
"I had received threats that I will be killed over phone on two consecutive days, August 9 and August 10, from the Maoists. I filed a confidential complaint to the East Singhbhum SSP and his counterpart at Baripada in Odisha from where the Naxalites claimed they made the call," Bhuiyan said.
He claimed that Maoist guerrillas had threatened to kill him just as they killed former Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahato and SP Pakur Amarjeet Balihar.
Following thorough questioning of the alleged abducted guard, SSP Lakra said that the abduction theory was found to be fabricated.
Following the police press conference, Bhuiyan said, "Regardless of what the SSP has told you people I still stand by my claims."
Bhuiyan is an accused in the disproportionate assets case and was a three time MLA from Jugsalai reserved constituency. The influential scheduled caste leader was Shibu Soren loyalist. But after his defeat in the 2009 Assembly elections, he left the JMM to join JVM (P).
